Shoulders and Neck Workshop – with Yoga Physiotherapist Tamara James.

ONLY 4 SPOTS LEFT

The shoulders are very flexible joints that often get tightened up by slumped posture or desk-bound work that creates tension around the neck and upper back.

Physiotherapist and yoga teacher Tamara James will give you insight into your shoulders and relationship with your neck to provide guidance on preventing and rectifying current problems.

With specifically targeted yoga postures and breathing rhythms, learn how to help align your shoulder girdle and neck, and using breathe to release tension.

This workshop will be largely practical; we will identify landmarks to assess mobility and strength around the shoulder joint complex and neck. We will apply this understanding to wisely choose poses to address findings  and explore modifications and technical refinements suitable to the individual.

“Over many years of practising and teaching yoga, I’ve found the shoulder joint often neglected and have treated and counselled many folks around the recovery of often persisting shoulder pain. The shoulder is a flexible joint often uncomfortably bound by tight and dysfunctional overlying muscles. The neck and shoulders are vulnerable to stress. They are also slow to recover from the strain of being misaligned during weight bearing or poor posture sitting for long periods. It isn’t hard to manage shoulder pain with simple technical adjustments. A little knowledge about the anatomy and biomechanics of the shoulder is essential to prevent and recover from injuries” – Tam
