Why do you do the things you do?
I love researching the ‘why’ behind the things I do. It has become a conscious act ever since I read a Buddist quote that suggested we all should regularly stop and question what we habitually do by asking ourselves is it beneficial? not only for ourselves but for everyone? at home, locally, and globally.
Rather than blindly repeating what those before us have done, taking time to regularly stop enables you to discover for yourself what the rippling impacts have and are doing.
In this fast-changing world, it is important to let go of things that don’t really serve so you can make room for what really does.
This feels like a fitting reflection for Easter, as not only does this time of year brings a sense of joyful chocolate expectations, it has great historical meaning in relation to the life of Jesus as an incarnation of the Divine, as well as a profound significance for our own aspirations of being able to resurrect or renew something magical within ourselves.
The resurrection of Jesus Christ symbolizes a sense of rebirth, a chance to rebuild. Death and Rebirth are the ending of old ways/ ideas/ thoughts/ behaviours to be replaced with renewed inspirations to follow your highest ideals or something that reflects what is beneficial to current times.
This can also be a chance to blow off the thin layer of dust that might be gathering on your New Years’ Resolutions with a chocolate twist!!
The chocolate egg represents a symbol of fertility and rebirth, as does the easter bunny, known to be a prolific procreator of new abundant life. Easter is a profitable time for chocolatiers, bakers of hot cross buns, but also a few extra well-deserved days off to do something fun or just something different from the mundane routine.
So how will you spend your Easter weekend? Will it be the same old same thing you’ve always done? (which isn’t a bad thing) or will you be branching out to do something new? However, you spend your time in the spirit of Easter we hope it has love and joyful meaning to you. May you have a blessed long weekend!
