Beginners Yoga Course

This 6-week beginner yoga series is designed for individuals new to yoga as well as those looking to deepen their understanding of the practice, helping them establish and enhance a strong foundation. The focus is on teaching fundamental yoga poses, breathing techniques, and mindfulness practices essential for building a safe and effective yoga routine. Additionally, through a vinyasa (flow yoga), this series aims to inspire participants to appreciate meditative movement, transition mindfully, and find stillness in poses while cultivating an awareness of alignment.

Helpful beginners yoga tips

  • Giving yourself time to arrive and set up is less stressful on your nervous system. At least 10 min prior is recommended.

  • If joining Zoom, please book 30 mins before class giving the teacher and you time to set up.

  • If you are pregnant, have existing injuries, or are on any medication. Contact us before the class so we can suggest a suitable class and offer modifications.

  • Switch off your mobile phones to avoid disturbing your practice and disrupting others.

  • Stay hydrated. Having a drink before will help to alert your mind, and again after class to remove toxins.

  • Don’t practice on a full stomach. Wait an hour after light snacks or 2 hours after large meals. For low blood sugar levels, a little fruit or juice 15 – 30 min.

  • Never force or strain your body as it only stresses your body and mind, and adds more tightness and tension.

  • For best results, we recommend regular weekly practice.  2 – 3 times a week benefits will be felt faster. Practice with patience and persistence, Yoga is a journey, not a quick fix.

  • The slower you go the better, this builds more awareness, strength and calmness.  Rest at anytime in any comfortable position.

  • Short rests help you to heal and rejuvenate quicker.

  • The final pose, savasana, is the most important so do stay till the end, your nervous system will thank you!

  • We love your questions so please contact us to ask. Phone or text 0410 601 773.

  • We know how wonderful Yoga is and want this for you too.

I absolutely love your classes even though I am nowhere near the standard of the class. You are an exquisite teacher and in the few months that I have been coming to Clayfield yoga, I have found increased physical strength as well as a renewed mental discipline. Thank you!!
